People who have had Covid-19 talk about it starting with these symptoms:
- Dry cough
- Loss of senses of smell and taste
- Sore throat
- Aching body
Paul says he had:
“full flu-like symptoms, weak, achey, all my muscles felt like they were constantly just like you know when you wake up in the morning and you don’t feel like you’ve got a proper grip…I had a cough at that point, started to have a little bit of high temperature as well”
Laura (31) says:
“My symptoms came from nowhere. I felt absolutely fine at work and then bang, all of the symptoms arrived at once. I had a high fever, shivers, intense aching pains in my back and neck, sore throat, painfully tight chest and fatigue.” Read the full story
People might get different combinations of these symptoms and they might come and go at different points.
Yogita – talking about her son Tanishk (aged 22) described his symptoms as:
“fever, headache, bodyache, tired. He was sore, especially lower body. Quite unlike him. He didn’t have sore throat or cough or breathlessness. He decided to continue quarantine/isolation for another two or three days. Next day, he was the same, very little cough but no improvement. Fever was slightly higher but not much 99.7 degrees. Ryan, a student, says he was coughing up red phlegm and had exhaustion, night sweats and nausea:
“”I’m very relieved I recovered,”I couldn’t get out of bed when the fever was at its worst. I lost my appetite and could barely drink water.” Read the full story
Some people talk about what it’s like to only have mild symptoms of coronavirus. Rebecca caught the virus on a cruise ship and was quarantined there.
